Chaplains

Chaplains provide pastoral care, encouragement and a safe space to talk — supporting people from all backgrounds and faiths.

Chaplains provide pastoral care, encouragement and a safe space to talk — supporting people from all backgrounds and faiths. Whether a person is facing relationship struggles, family challenges, anxiety, grief or simply needs someone to listen, our chaplains are there. Chaplains help create safe, inclusive environments where people can feel supported, build resilience and know they’re not alone.

Our chaplains support the whole community, providing care, encouragement and a listening ear when they need it most.

Supporting School Chaplaincy across the Newcastle region.

Macquarie Care also supports School Chaplaincy across the Newcastle region, placing caring, highly trained chaplains in local schools to walk alongside students, staff and families through the ups and downs of school life. We believe every young person matters. By investing in the wellbeing of students and staff, we’re helping build healthier, stronger and more connected school communities.

What is a School Chaplain?

A Chaplain is a person who offers care and acceptance to people, regardless of race, gender, culture, or worldview.  They listen, support, work through life issues, and assist in times of crisis.

What is the School
Chaplaincy Program?

Government Funding is available to all Australian Schools for the appointment of a chaplain to support the social, emotional, moral and spiritual wellbeing of students.

How will it benefit your school?

A chaplain will work with your other support systems programs. They are available to participate in school activities and provide support to staff, students and parents.

Equipping Chaplains to
Make a Difference

Macquarie Life Church has been supporting School Chaplaincy since 2008, partnering as a service provider and funding recipient for the National School Chaplaincy Program. Through this partnership, Macquarie Care supports chaplains who provide mentoring, pastoral care, activities and programs that strengthen the social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing of school communities.

Our chaplains are equipped and supported to walk alongside students and staff, offering a listening ear, practical support and a safe place to navigate the challenges of school life. We believe every young person matters, and that caring well for them can make a lasting difference.
