Who We Are
Macquarie Care is about connecting with kindness |
Macquarie Care is the expression of the heart of our church in the local community, mobilising volunteers to serve through our programs, services and projects to meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of people living in the Lake Macquarie & Hunter Region of NSW.
We have been serving in schools, prisons, nursing homes, hospitals, shelters, detention centres, and in our local neighbourhoods since 1998. The heart behind everything we do, is to see lives of individuals changed so they can lead and impact in every sphere of life. Our mission is connecting with kindness, no strings attached. Our programs focus on mobilising our church to foster social inclusion and place value on people living in our community. We do this through our Chaplains ministering in nursing homes, aged care facilities, high schools, hospitals and anywhere people are hurting and broken. Our homeless program assists men and women on their journey towards ending homelessness. Our local missions focus on building resilience and disarming bullying through the Shine and Strength programs reaching adolescent males and females in our local high schools. Playgroups help to connect parents and children in our community in the same season of life that otherwise have no form of social connection. Every year we will facilitate group work by qualified community workers helping women who have been abused sexually in our Door of Hope program, as well as enhancing marriage skills and mental health support groups. Our community engagement sees us working with other organisations such as The Canopy to facilitate mentoring support and City Serve in serving the needs of our local community.
